Civil work that's tendered every month
Councils, water authorities and head contractors regularly go to market for bulk and detailed earthworks, drainage and stormwater, trenching for services, road reconstruction and resheeting, subdivision civil works, culverts, headwalls and site preparation for buildings. Some packages are run as public tenders, others as panels, requests for quotation or builder subcontract packages.
What civil tenders ask civil contractors to prove
- A capability statement covering your plant fleet, operators, tickets and civil scopes
- A WHS management system plus SWMS for excavation, trenching, mobile plant, work near traffic and work near underground services
- A plant and equipment register with machine sizes, attachments, ownership and maintenance
- Insurances: public liability, workers compensation and often plant and motor vehicle cover
- Project history with values, clients and referees
- Often a quality plan with ITPs, an environmental management plan (sediment, dust, spoil) and a traffic management approach
- For some state road work, prequalification on the roads register (see our DTP prequalification guide)
One contractor or split packages?
Many civil tenders combine earthworks, drainage, concrete and line marking. We help you decide whether to bid the whole package with named subcontractors or price only the part you self-perform as a subcontractor to a larger civil contractor. The second option is often the faster first win.
