The core tender document checklist
- Capability statement: who you are, what you deliver, crew, plant and best projects. See how to write one.
- WHS management system: your documented safety policies and procedures.
- SWMS: Safe Work Method Statements for each type of high-risk construction work in the scope.
- Certificates of currency: public liability, workers compensation, and sometimes professional indemnity, plant or motor vehicle cover. Check the minimum levels in each tender.
- Licences and tickets: business and trade licences where required, construction induction cards, plant operator tickets.
- Project history: similar jobs with scope, value, dates, client and photos.
- Referees: contacts who've agreed to speak about your work.
- Plant and equipment register: owned and reliably hired plant, with sizes.
- Key personnel: short CVs for supervisors and the business owner.
Often asked for
- A quality management plan or inspection and test plans (ITPs)
- An environmental management plan covering sediment, dust, noise, waste and concrete washout
- A traffic management approach for work on or near roads
- Financial information, such as recent statements or an accountant's letter
- A methodology and program for the specific job
Returnable schedules
Most tenders include forms you must complete and return: the pricing schedule, tenderer details, conflict-of-interest and collusion declarations, departures from the contract, and responses to each evaluation criterion. Missing one can make your submission non-conforming.
Keep them current
Insurance and tickets expire. Projects finish. Update your set every few months, and before every tender check that dates, cover levels and referees are still right.
